Leave management that stays in Slack
Type /leave. Your manager taps approve with the new balance on the card. The channel learns who is off today without a spreadsheet screenshot.
HR answered the leave question in Slack. Then someone copied it into email so the spreadsheet could catch up. Now there are two remaining-day numbers, and one person has already booked flights.
A leave management Slack app has to finish the job in Slack: request, balance, approve, new balance, and a post the company can see. Leave Keeper does that on Team, Business, and Scale. Free sends approval to email on purpose, because 5 people can live with that and 25 cannot.
/leave shows the balance before they submit
/leave opens a modal with the type from your policies, a start date, an end date, and on Team and up a morning or afternoon half day. The modal shows days remaining for that type before the person submits.
If the request is bigger than the balance, they can still submit. The manager sees an over-balance request and can decline. We never silently trim the dates.
Team holds 8 policies. Annual, sick, unpaid, maternity, parental, Hajj, study, and bereavement already make 8. Add time off in lieu and you need Business, which holds 20. CSV import of opening balances takes 25 rows on Team, 75 on Business, 200 on Scale. Failed rows come back in an error CSV.
The manager card is the approval
The card shows:
- The person and the dates
- The leave type
- Days this request uses (a half day is 0.5)
- Days remaining after approval
- Who else in the department is off on those dates (Business and Scale, 12 departments)
Approve or decline. There is no third button called maybe. For UAE sick leave the card can show which pay stage the day falls in (15 full, 30 half, 45 unpaid) when you set the policy that way. The daily post never shows pay.
Free has no one-tap approval. The request starts in Slack and the yes happens in email. History is 90 days on Free, 365 on Team and Business, and 1,095 on Scale.
Who is off today, across two weekends
At the time you pick, in the workspace time zone, Leave Keeper posts one line:
> Off today: Noura (annual, half AM), James (sick, day 2 of 4), Priya (public holiday, UAE)
Saudi weekends run Friday and Saturday. London weekends run Saturday and Sunday. That is why holidays live on a per-policy country calendar, and why Business holds all four at once: US, UK, UAE, KSA. The UAE and KSA calendars carry Hijri dates, updated when they are announced.
Team has 1 country calendar. If Dubai and London share a workspace, you need Business.
The weekly email, Team and up, lists next week plus pending approvals older than 2 working days. We do not ping Slack for every open card. One card to the manager is enough.
Slack on Team, Teams on Business
Free and Team run on Slack. Business and Scale add Microsoft Teams with the same request flow. If IT already moved to Teams, start on Business. The modal works on Slack mobile. There is no separate iPhone app, so if field staff never open Slack, look at Timetastic.
iCal comes with Team and up. Google Calendar and Outlook sync come with Business and Scale. Scale adds one payroll CSV a month and a read API at 10,000 calls. See the plans and every cap.
What it will not do
It does not compute gratuity, store medical PDFs, or run a shift rota. It is for the HR or ops lead at a company of 15 to 80 people who still tracks leave in a spreadsheet and wants the balance on the approve button before anyone gets on a plane.
30-day money-back guarantee once the product opens. No card needed to join.
